Q-Tone Media LLC was established in 2023. The Company is led by a 37+ year radio veteran. He has done every aspect of the industry. His first radio position was in New York City when he was 19. He started off as an intern of the station and worked his way up to a Music and Research Director, Assistant Program Director, and he was the youngest Program Director in New York City. He personally started 98.7 KISS in New York City.
After completing his 8th year at 98.7, He then moved to Philadelphia and created Power 99 FM. With the same programming formula, he also brought that station to number 1 in the market. After being at that station for several years, he decided to get into radio ownership. Before he did that, he also put on a radio station in Philadelphia called Q102 as a consultant.
After several months of looking for a station to purchase, he found one in a very small market in Salisbury/Ocean City, Maryland; an area that he was not use to, especially only living in major cities.
This market at the time, did not have any Urban Stations. He then switched the station’s format from a failed Adult Contemporary to the market’s 1st Urban Station. After switching, approximately 6 months later, the station was cash flowing close to $350,000 per year. That was after the payback to the bank. This station was actually losing $15,000.00+ dollars a month. After turning that station around, a group of investors saw what he did (both in New York City and in Philadelphia), as well as the station in Salisbury/Ocean City, Maryland. They said that he needed to expand and go bigger. At the time, he was fine living at the beach with a very successful station.
However, they ended up convincing him to purchase a station in Wilmington, Delaware, which coincidentally happened to be on the same frequency of the station in the Salisbury/Ocean City Market. He then called it the twin “FMs” where people were able to drive from Wilmington to the beaches and hear the station without any interruptions. After several years, Tony was now a dad and felt that it wasn’t right to move his son spending one week in Wilmington and another week at the beach station. So, he made a decision to sell the station at the beach and continue to run the station in Wilmington, DE. He ran and co-owned the station from 1997 to 2014. This station was cash flowing $2 million a year.
Now, Tony is ready for a new chapter in his life and that is to rebirth the station he started when he was 20 years old.
